Klaipėda ERNESTAS GALVANAUSKAS Vocational Training Centre together with project partners VšĮ Šiauliai Labour Market Training Centre, VšĮ Panevėžys Labour Market Training Centre, VšĮ Vilniaus Jeruzalemė Labour Market Training Centre and Vilnius Railway Transport and Business Services School successfully implemented the project "Development of training tools for modular training programmes in the field of transport and testing of modular curricula", project No VP1-2.2.2ŠMM-04-V-03-020. The project was financed by the European Social Fund and the Lithuanian state budget.
The project developed 3 training tools for modular training programmes in the field of Transport:
The Driver Training Computer-Based Training Tool contains: the most up-to-date and relevant course material with interactive images, video, Flash technology, animation with voice-overs, self-check questions, exercises and tests to assess the learner's knowledge.
The training tool "Train Control on a Realistic Section of Lithuanian Railways" is designed to be used in conjunction with the freight train control simulator at the VGTVPM. Train drivers learn how to drive on one of the most difficult railway track sections in Lithuania, Vaidotas-Kėdainiai. The training tool can be used to change weather conditions, seasons and time of day. It is also possible to create extreme hazardous situations in which the pupils develop their professional skills. The training tool is used for the qualification exam.
An interactive 3D graphics tool for rail transport professionals. It can be used to learn the structure of train engines and the rules of train traffic signalling. It allows you to listen to audio and graphical explanations, read explanatory text, create tests and present them to students to test their knowledge. Textbooks with theoretical material and tests are also available.
Pilot training sessions have been organised after the introduction of the new training tools. The training was attended by 117 pupils from the applicant and partner institutions.
Investing in the quality of services has made the centres more economically viable, more attractive to consumers and more responsive to the needs of the national economy. It has created an attractive learning environment, introduced innovative vocational training and learning tools, developed and ensured access to an advanced training system.
