History of Klaipėda School of Construction. In the school's yearbook we find the following entry: 'Klaipėda 41 st Secondary Vocational Technical School was founded in 1969' (Taikos Ave. 67, Klaipėda). This was the name of the school when it started its existence. The first headmaster, Vaclovas Normantas, headed the school until 1982. From 1982 to 1984 the school was headed by Stanislovas Jonušis. In 1988, the school was renamed Klaipėda 5th Vocational Technical School. From 1984 to 2007, the school was headed by Klaus Grudzinskas. In 1990, the school was renamed Klaipėda Construction School. From 2007 to 2016, the school was headed by the headmaster Steponas Rimkus. The school provided vocational and secondary education that met the requirements of the modern field of chosen professional activity, and trained highly qualified specialists capable of integrating into the Lithuanian and foreign labour market. The school community improved the curricula, provided up-to-date knowledge and good professional skills, and trained highly qualified specialists capable of integrating into the Lithuanian and foreign labour markets. During the whole period of its existence, the school has graduated more than 9,000 specialists.The development of vocational training has been aimed at making it an equal part of the lifelong learning system. Training programmes were designed for people of all ages and backgrounds. The school offered 10 formal vocational training programmes: carpenter, frame house manufacturer and installer, cabinetmaker, finisher (builder), building restorer, building materials sales consultant, high-rise building installer, construction business service provider, secretary, computer equipment adjuster, office manager. After graduation and qualification, professionals had the opportunity to continue their studies at Lithuanian higher education institutions in university and college study programmes. The school cooperated closely with the West Lithuanian Business College, Klaipėda State College.The school had strong social partners: UAB "Doka Lietuva", UAB "Klaipėdos apdaila", UAB "Gitana", UAB "Klaipėdos baldai", UAB "Mida", AB "Wienerberger", UAB "Eternit Baltic", etc. In these companies, students could successfully complete their apprenticeships and, after completing their training, find employment.The school community improved its professional skills by participating in international PHARE, BPD 1.5 and 2.4, Comenius, Leonardo da Vinci and Baltic Sea projects. From 1 September 2016, the joint centre started its activities.From 20 December 2016, the centre was given a new name - Klaipėda Vocational Training Centre of Klaipėda Ernests Galvanauskas. The Centre provides initial and continuing vocational training, vocational rehabilitation, driver training and adult non-formal education. International and other projects are implemented, and active participation in international, national, regional and city competitions, exhibitions and fairs is encouraged. Volunteering is developed, and it is an active part of the Klaipėda city community.

Vocational training has been developed at the Klaipėda Vocational Training and Rehabilitation Centre since 1 February 1972.This date marks the transformation of the Klaipėda branch of the Vilnius Motor Transport Training Combine into the independent Klaipėda Automokykla (Alyvų 10 A, Klaipėda), which was headed by the director, Stanislovas Kekys, until 1991.On 1 January 1981. On 1 November 1988, the name of the Klaipėda Automokykola was changed to Klaipėda Autotransport Training Combine. The name of the Klaipėda Motor Transport Training Combine was changed to the Klaipėda Training Combine of the Production Association of Motor Transport Enterprises in March 1991. From 1991 to 2015, the training centre was headed by Birutė Dirmotienė.In 1992, the founder of the training centre was the Lithuanian Labour Market Training and Consultancy Service under the Ministry of Social Security and Labour of the Republic of Lithuania. The Training Centre for Transport Workers was merged with the Training Centre for Trade Workers. Radical changes were taking place in the introduction of training for the trade profile. The name of the Klaipėda State Transport Workers' Training Centre was changed to the Klaipėda State Vocational Training Centre on 19-19-19-1993 by Order No. 16AD of the Adult Vocational Training and Consulting Service under the Ministry of Social Security and Labour.In 1993, a new phase of work began - relations with foreign training institutions. Participation not only in local, but also in international projects gave the opportunity to occupy the necessary place on the market. The former Transport Workers' Training Centre was reorganised into a multidisciplinary labour market training centre. The range of training services was expanded and improved, a large amount of equipment was purchased, and active cooperation with private companies, business organisations, Klaipėda University, NGOs and disabled people's organisations began. The main field of activity was vocational training of adults in the following vocational programmes: occupational safety, environmental protection, trade and business administration, informatics, food production and processing, crafts, and service professions. 72-1AD of the Adult Vocational Training and Consultancy Service reorganised the Klaipėda State Vocational Training Centre into the Special Purpose Closed Joint Stock Company Klaipėdos darbo rynku mokymo centras.On 17-07-2003 the Klaipėdos darbo rynku mokymo centras was re-registered as the Klaipėdos darbo rynku mokymo centras UAB, and on 01-12-2004 the Klaipėdos darbo rynku mokymo centras was re-registered as the Klaipėdos darbo rynku mokymo centras UAB. By Order No V(1)-133 of the Lithuanian Labour Market Training Service No V(1)-133 of 13-10-2004, the Klaipėda Labour Market Training Centre UAB was reorganised into the Public Institution Klaipėda Labour Market Training Centre.A lot of attention was also paid to the integration of disabled people into the labour market, In 2011, following the implementation of the project "Development of Vocational Infrastructure for Persons with Disabilities in the Western Region of Lithuania", a Vocational Rehabilitation Unit for Persons with Disabilities was established at Lelijų g. 5, Klaipėda, which has been providing Vocational Rehabilitation for persons with disabilities since May 2012. In order to make more efficient use of the available premises and to provide the best possible accessibility conditions for persons with disabilities, in 2012 the Centre started to provide initial vocational training services in the following vocational training programmes: massage therapist, hotel clerk, florist.Since 2013 the name of the Centre has been changed to Public Institution Klaipėda Vocational Training and Rehabilitation Centre.Since 2015, the Centre has been headed by Dr Dalia Martišauskienė.Continuing vocational training at the Centre is continuous and uninterrupted, and the training process is organised in accordance with the needs of the labour market.The training centre was the only one in the whole region of Western Lithuania that trained drivers of all categories of transport vehicles. Since its establishment, this has remained one of the most important areas of activity. In order to develop the quality of initial, supplementary, hazardous goods transport and periodic driver training in compliance with the requirements of the European Union directives and the legal acts of the Republic of Lithuania, in April 2015, after the implementation of the main objective of the project "Establishment of a practical training centre for the transport, warehousing and communications sector", the following training centre was set up at the premises of the Centre in the village of Klaipėda, Klaipėdiškės g. 2, Ketvergiai km., During the history of both institutions, a strong training base has been created, a teaching staff has been formed, a great deal of experience in cooperation has been gained, and the range of training services provided has increased. The vocational training programmes include art, business and administration, computing, engineering and engineering professions, manufacturing and processing, architecture and construction, social services, personal services, transport services, and security services.The quality of training at the Centre is determined by the material and technical conditions, which are constantly being improved, with a focus on updating the content of the training and on improving the working conditions of employees.
